Virender Sehwag Quotes

Everybody will be given equal opportunity.

It didn’t happen and that cost us the match.

I don’t know how many times I said sorry to the coach

There is no difference between dust and the surface here.

We need to win two to emerge winners in the fresh series.

I don’t want to blame the bowlers as they are working hard.

If I play down the order, then there is nobody who can open.

We have worked hard on our game and it shows in the results.

After reaching the hotel we realized it was no use going to the ground.

I wasn’t expecting showers when we landed here after a three-hour flight.

Our lower order batted very well after the top half didn’t contribute much.

They had lost the series to us two years ago and did not want to take a chance.

I think Pakistan is more under pressure than us because they are playing at home.

Cricketers use protection when playing the game and it’s the same in life as well

I would love to bat at number four. I know I would not get that till Sachin retires

We are happy for the last match in Delhi as we know the pressure would be on Lankans

It is my best knock in One-Day Internationals. It is better than the 130 I made earlier

We wanted to win the game here and finish it off as I am not sure of the wicket in Delhi

We’ve won the series, but it doesn’t mean we’ll take the remaining three matches lightly.

I want to play 100 Test matches and once I have done that, I may retire from Test cricket

We probably needed about 500 tonight the way they played. That would have been a good game.

I’m 31 and I think I’m playing well. And I would get only better in the next three-four years

They (Pakistan) gave us flat tracks last time and we won both the Test and one-day series there.

In my case, it would become risky if I try to become defensive, since my technique is not that good

I don’t think I am anywhere near Sachin or Vivian Richards. It’s you media people who are making this up

It’s tough to come back after the break and play the same way. It’s tough to sight the ball in bad light.

We are worried about the lack of runs from our openers and the top order and are working to correct this.

We did not get enough runs. If we had not lost early wickets, may be the scenario would have been different

I have been successful as an opener but who knows, maybe I would have been more successful in the middle order

Not a single partnership clicked. That was the main reason why we did not score as much as we would have wanted.

Virat is very talented. It’s good to see him play such a knock. And thanks to Gautam Gambhir for guiding Virat Kohli

I don’t listen to people, don’t watch TV and don’t read newspapers.

It’s better to use the time to work on your game.

Not many people have got two triple centuries and followed that with 293. So there is nothing to be disappointed about.

I have no fear while batting. If there is a loose ball to hit, I go out there and hit it. That’s the way I play my game.

In the dressing room they told me I was hitting the good balls too, but if you look at it my way I hit only the bad ones.

The world record really doesn’t matter, I didn’t know we were close to the record until I came back to the dressing-room.

We are progressing well. By the time of the World Cup, we will be ready in all departments — bowling, batting order etc.

We are concerned about the lack of runs from our opening batsmen and the top order and would be working to put this right.

We will be more happy if result oriented wickets are prepared because playing a drawn test match is not good for the game.

I don’t believe in technique, I believe in performance. If you are tough, whether you have technique or not, you’ll survive.

I was a middle order batsman. I like to bat in middle order. But currently, team demands me to open batting and I am doing so

I did not think much of it. I knew we can chase down the total if we have wickets in hand. Also, the dew played a role here as the ball was getting neither spin nor swing

We [the batsmen from Delhi] are always hungry for runs. These are the cricketers who are scoring lot of runs in domestic circuit and now they are converting those to good performance here. Gambhir, myself and now Virat is also scoring runs. It’s great to have so many players from Delhi scoring runs

I have never seen a pitch before a Test match in my life. Not even when I led the side. If you see a track and find it a seaming one, you start thinking that your technique has to be correct, your feet movement has to be spot on. These are all rubbish…my philosophy is, see the ball and hit the ball

People say I take too many risks. But the fact is, there is risk involved in every shot. You can get out trying to defend a ball as well. At times, people tell me to leave ball outside the off-stump. But some of them can jag back and get you out if you don’t play shots. I think if you think so much, you simply cannot bat

In my case, it would become risky if I try to become defensive, since my technique is not that good. I think in a different way. When I grew up, I tried to score off every ball, be it a 10-over-match, a 20-over or even a Test match. If I stay in the wicket for say about 30 minutes, I want to make the most of it and score maximum runs possible. You never know when you get out, try to score as much possible before that.
