Sehwag Scored Double Ton, Becomes the Highest ODI Run Scorer

Today, i.e December 08, 2011, Virender Sehwag showed why he is considered as one of the most dangerous batsman in World cricket these days as history was created as he scored 219 runs off just 149 balls with 25 fours and 7 sixes against West Indies in the fourth one-day international at Indore.

It was Sehwag’s 240th one-day international as he surpassed the maser blaster Sachin Tendulkar (200 not out against South Africa in Gwalior on Feb 24, 2010) The previous best of Sehwag was 175 came against Bangladesh.

Choosing to bat first, India opened the innings with Sehwag and Gambhir and the posted 176 runs for the first wicket. Even after Gambhir’s departure, Sehwag kept scoring runs with ease. It was due to his brilliant performance that team India posted 418/5 in 50 overs, first time India scored past 400 run mark in ODI.

Virender Sehwag Launches His Cricket Academy In Haryana

Cricketer Virender Sehwag launches his cricket Academy at Sehwag International School in Jhajjar, Haryana. This academy will impart the training of cricket along with other sports also like tennis, horse riding, swimming and wrestling. Sehwag reached with his wife Aarti and mother Krishna.

The Sehwag International School started its functioning from last year and having about 320 students in classes from nursery to VII. Sehwag said that “It was my father’s dream. He told me that when you become a big player you must build a school and facilities for sports, so that next generation of budding sportsmen don’t struggle like you did,” Further he added that “I’m to travel from Najafgarh for two hours everyday to reach the training facility”

Sehwag also thanked Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Haryana chief minister for providing him a piece of land to build this dream project. On asking about his come back in Indian team, Sehwag replied that “I am trying to get ready for action in time for the West Indies tour of India”

Virender Sehwag Performance in Cricket World Cup 2011

Although the Cricket World Cup 2011 is over but the memories of the tournament will always be there in the minds of Indian Cricket fans. It still seems to be unbelievable that India is the new world champion of the cricket. Its credit goes to the each and every individual of team India who played as one unit under captain cool MS Dhoni. The flying start given by Virender Sehwag who opened the innings for India in most crucial matches, played an important role to make India world champions.

Bat of the Delhi Boy Virender Shewag didn’t serve any run to that of the India’s total in final as he got out at duck but his performance in league matches was remarkable. His initial big blow of 175 runs in just 140 balls against the Bangladesh becomes the highest runs scored by an individual in World Cup 2011. India won that match by a huge margin of 87 runs. His contribution of 175 runs also made team India to score the highest total of the WC 2011.He was awarded Man of the Match award for such a fabulous performance. Another innings played by Veeru against South Africa was also very remarkable. He scored 73 runs in 66 balls. He was second highest run scorer after Sachin in that match. In semi final the most crucial match played between art rivals India and Pakistan, Sehwag contributed only 38 runs in just 25 balls. But 5 out of 9 fours hit by him to the Umar Gul’s 2nd over helped India to get rid of this dangerous man. After that over Umar was unable to get back to his line and length in the match and ultimately India won that match with ease.

Virender Sehwag to lead Delhi Daredevils In IPL 4

Veeru once again after the first two seasons of the IPL will be captaining the Delhi Daredevils in IPL 4. Delhi Daredevil was able to make to the semi finals in first two versions of the IPL. In IPL 3, Veeru step-down from the captaincy so that he can focus on his batting. Gautam Gambhir took the charge of the Daredevils in IPL 3. In IPL 4 Gambhir would be playing from Kolkata Knight Riders so Virender Sehwag will once again be leading the team.

Virender Sehwag Ruled Out For Twenty20 World Cup

In a severe blow to team India’s preparation for T20 World Cup, Virender Sehwag has been ruled out of Twenty20 World Cup starting this month in West Indies. As per reports, Murli Vijay has replaced injured Sehwag who is supposed to have injured his shoulder in DLF IPL match.

The Bible of Cricket – Wisden has named Virender Sehwag as the ‘Leading Cricketer in the World’ for 2008. Other contenders for this title were England’s Captain Andrew Strauss and Sri Lankan Tilakratne Dilshan but Sehwag again proved his talent and won this award second time in a row.

Virender Sehwag right from his debut, has played some match winning innings for India. Not only this, he is the only Indian batsmen to score two triple hundreds.

A sensational batting from Virender Sehwag dashed the hopes of Rajasthan Royals who were earlier limited to 141/6 in 20 overs. Opening the batting for Delhi Daredevils, Gautam Gambhir and Sehwag pushed the run pedal right from the first over. Though Delhi Daredevils lost two quick wickets in 4th over but the Indian Run Machine – Sehwag was not deterred. He was thrashing the Rajasthan Royals bowlers as if he was playing against a local school team.

Sehwag rushed to his half century in just 21 balls. Even after 50’s he didnt stopped and thrashed the bowlers to all corners of the ground. Delhi Daredevils were comfortably placed at 90/2 in 9 overs. After scoring 75 runs off just 34 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes, Sehwag was eventually out. Rajasthan Royals could finally have some breath but that innings of Sehwag had taken the match out of RR’s hands.
